Back up and running

Its almost been a year living in LA and I have felt I have learned so much. I absolutely love it here. I recently finished my job as a Camera Assistant on an MTV show. My job was to take care of 15 small POV ( point of view) cameras. I rigged these cameras to cars, buildings, trees, and yes even in a toilet… I had my still camera with me on a promo shoot that MTV was doing for the show. They saw the shots that I got from the promo and asked me to be the set photographer for the show. So as soon as I was done rigging all the cameras, I had to scramble to get my camera and take some shots. I feel very fortunate to be able to take set photography of such a wild and crazy show. I wanted to share some of the shots that I got. Enjoy.

Today was a very adventurous day. We went white water rafting down the west water canyons of Utah. Absolutely stunning stuff… When we got back we went to Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. I would tell more, but I need to go to bed. Its been non-stop and tomorrow we are getting up early to head to South Lake Tahoe to see some great friends. Pretty excited.

Here are a couple of shots from day 4 and 5.

Finally got through boring Kansas and made it to Colorado. I must say this state is gorgeous. There are still snow capped mountains in the distance. We are going to be traveling through Rocky Mtn. National park all day tomorrow and staying in Estes park again tomorrow night. I’m not much of a landscape of wildlife photography…but it is pretty neat to try something different. Hope you enjoy the few images I shot today, and hope to post some more tomorrow night!

For not thinking we could pack up my car with three of us traveling and me moving across country, we did pretty good. We made it all the way to Topeka Kansas. Everything was running smooth for the first 4 hours until we ran out of gas! The Bath County Sheriffs office of Kentucky was kind enough to bring us two gallons of gas to make it to the next gas station. Just a minor set back. Today the view wasn’t all that great, and I’m not really looking forward to driving across the flat plains of Kansas tomorrow either. However, I know once we pass Kansas, it’s going to be beautiful.

Tomorrow we are headed to Estes Park in Colorado. Hope to capture some great pictures. Keep checking, and remember to click on the images to scroll through them.

My car stranded.

Don’t really like taking pictures of sunsets, but I was bored while driving. Yes I know unsafe…

The Countdown Begins…

One month. Thats it. Thats all.

After being in VA for 22 years I will be making the journey from the good ole’ east coast to the west coast in Los Angeles, California. I’m filled with excitement to take on this journey. However, I’m stricken with a bunch of emotions that I can’t even describe. I’m saddened about leaving my friends and my family. I’m nervous about making a living for myself.

What am I going to do out in LA?

To tell you the truth…I don’t know. I’ve always wanted to be in front of the camera, and I enjoy it so much! BUT, its super super hard to get to that point. Even though I like being in front of the camera, I like the whole process behind the camera too. I like making things happen! Maybe being a producer is in sight..I don’t know. I don’t know where life will take me.

I have a couple contacts that said I will have a production assistant job on television shows going on when I get out there. Is that what I want to do?? I am willing to do whatever it takes to make it! I still don’t really know what that is, but that’s why I’m going out there…to figure that out and find my way.

Charlotte Fun

This past weekend Rachel and I visited Charlotte. Friday night we went to a concert at the new Uptown Amphitheater to see Counting Crows/Augustana/ and Michael Franti. The atmosphere and the concert was great. We stayed with my cousin and his wife, Andy and Lori Culicerto. They have a beautiful 9 month old named Caroline. I was informed that taking pictures of babies is a huge business. A business that I might try out…
I was happy to do a little test photoshoot with Caroline, Ann, and Charlie. Here are some of the shots.
